Student loan

What are the terms of the student loan?

Here are some important points about the student loan:

Taking out a student loan is optional. Any student can apply for a study grant without having to take out a student loan.

Student loans are underwritten by the State and incur maximum interest of 2%. Repayment of the loan starts within two years of the student completing or withdrawing from the course, and can be spread over up to 10 years.

Please take the following steps if you would like to take out a student loan with BIL:

1. Apply to the Mengstudien organisation:

Please send your application through MyGuichet or complete the form that can be downloaded from the “Online service/Form” section of the guichet.public.lu website.

Please note the official deadlines set by the Mengstudien organisation, as late applications will be rejected.

2. Apply to BIL for a student loan:

If you would like to take out a student loan, , simply scan the QR Code on your letter of agreement provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research using your BILnet application.

You will then be able to manage your student loan easily using the BILnet online banking service.

BIL gives you EUR 150 when you first take out a student loan!*
